Herald Brass Concert

Herald Brass Concert

Sunday, December 14, 2025, 10:15 AM - 11:30 AM

The group got its start back in 2003, when Pastor Doug Enck was asked by a missionary to create a band to spread the Christian message by music to Burkina Faso, West Africa.  Since then, Herald Brass has traveled to Turkey, Ecuador, Uruguay, and recently Thailand, where they, accompanied by ValleyView Alliance Church’s Pastor Lee Nanfelt, performed at multiple churches, including one that soon opened its doors.

The following are the songs that will be performed.   Herald Brass begins with, Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming, followed by a carol sing of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing and Joy to the World, led by Sue Horner of the host Church, with brass accompaniment.  Herald Brass then plays, Sleigh Ride, inviting hearers to join in handbell accompaniment.  Next they play the more recent, Mary, Did you Know?; followed by the traditional, O Come, O Come Emmanuel, and O Holy Night.  The group then plays renditions of Christmas classics, Silent Night! Holy Night!; and Angels We have Heard on High.  A lively jazz version of, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, follows.  The First Noel and singing of, Go Tell it on the Mountain, to brass accompaniment, concludes the Sunday morning concert.

Afterwards, there will be a freewill offering to contribute to the band’s future mission trips.

Aside from Herald Brass’s visit to Hellam, they will also be performing in Shippensburg, Chambersburg, Halifax, and Carlisle this season.
